It’s OFFICIAL!!! Today, I started my pastry classes at Essential Cakes in Brooklyn, NY, with my Auntie Etwin. I’ve wanted to make desserts since I was five years old, but being young wasn’t my advantage. Adults say that we kids like to change out minds because we
what we want, in my case, cooking was something I fell in live with from watching the Cooking Channel with my mom. My favorite shows have been The Great Food Truck Race, Food Network Star, Chopped, and Cupcake Wars.
On Sunday, March 23, I had a honor of working with Syreeta Gates for her kickstarter to her upcoming documentary Word is Bond, which celebrates the work of journalist on Hip Hop. I was asked to portray Dream Hampton and recite her words about the legendary Tupac. While filming, I met GOOD people who are talented in rapping and poetry.
I was the only kid among the adults, but they all encouraged me to do my best and I did! I realized that Hip Hop is more than just hearing a song on the radio, it’s a culture that can be represented in the style of your hair, your clothes, the way you stand, the beat you make, and the way you speak. I thought I would be to young to get why people loved Hip Hop so much, until I saw how free and creative the girls and guys could be for the love of this culture!
Yesterday was TERRIFIC!!!!! I was invited to sit on my very first panel at the She is Me: Skin I’m Inluncheon at Mott Hall Bridges Academy. There were over 300girls and women, I have to admit I was a little nervous to be in front of a lot of people, but I wanted to make a good impression. Miss Michaela angela Davis was the moderator to the panel that included Miss Renae Bluitt,MissTaiia Smart-Young, Miss Kathy Bowman-Williams, Dr. Wendi Williams, and myself.
Each of us shared what the Skin I’m In meant to all of us and gave advice to young girls about how they should present themselves online.
Little Miss Goodie empowers and sets the standards for girls who use social media site. You don’t have to change who you are in order to be liked, instead love yourself and celebrate the GOOD that is in you!
