For the Love of Hip Hop

On Sunday, March 23, I had a honor of working with Syreeta Gates for her kickstarter to her upcoming documentary Word is Bond, which celebrates the work of journalist on Hip Hop. I was asked to portray Dream Hampton and recite her words about the legendary Tupac. While filming, I met GOOD people who are talented in rapping and poetry.

I was the only kid among the adults, but they all encouraged me to do my best and I did! I realized that Hip Hop is more than just hearing a song on the radio, it’s a culture that can be represented in the style of your hair, your clothes, the way you stand, the beat you make, and the way you speak. I thought I would be to young to get why people loved Hip Hop so much, until I saw how free and creative the girls and guys could be for the love of this culture!
